8 hot dogs
8 hot dog buns
Ketchup
Mustard (optional, for ‘nail polish’)
A sharp knife
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven or grill according to hot dog package instructions.
2. Carefully cut each hot dog to resemble a finger: make a small, shallow cut at one end for the “fingernail” bed and 2–3 shallow cuts around the middle for “knuckles” (do not cut all the way through).
3. Cook the hot dogs until heated through and slightly browned (oven, grill, or pan).
4. Place each “finger” into a hot dog bun.
5. Squirt ketchup at the end of each “finger” where it meets the bun to simulate blood.
6. For an extra touch, dab a tiny bit of yellow mustard on the “fingernail” bed for “nail polish.”
7. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately.
Notes
